National Danish Performance Team Launch World Tour in Washington D.C.
The National Danish Performance Team (NDPT) is right now preparing the U.S. tour and getting ready to “wow” the audience in Washington D.C. during a ten day visit October 1-10, 2010.
Highlights of the visit to the nation's capital will include a public performance at Marymount University Gymnasium 7pm October 7th, appearances at the 24th annual AIDS Walk Washington, October 2nd between 10-11am and a free public performance at The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage 6pm October 9th.
“We are thrilled to have NDPT come to Washington D.C. Their show is breathtaking and an experience you mustn’t miss”, says NDPT U.S. coordinator Mia Hansen.
Additionally, the team offers workshops at schools and community centres in corporation with Horace Mann Elementary School and YMCA Arlington teaching people at all ages that healthy living can be fun.
As ambassador of healthy living, NDPT is proud to spread the message of The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition and First Lady Mrs. Obama’s Lets Move campaign. The Presidents Council and Lets Move recognize and endorse the important message on healthy living and an active lifestyle promoted by NDPT.
The team consists of 28 gymnasts, equally divided between male and female athletes. The gymnasts on the team are not paid professionals but participate on a voluntary basis travelling the world in the spirit of giving people an experience they will never forget.
“We have selected 28 of the most talented gymnasts and they are ready with a spectacular show. The audience is in for an innovative performance of very high quality,” promises the NDPT General Manager Johannes Bjerre.
The show Connections is a mix of graceful movements, dynamic and energetic sequences, colourful and life inspiring choreographies and powerful vaulting and tumbling.
The tour starts in Denmark in September 2010 with 11 shows. The world tour kicks off in Washington, starting the 3 ½ month tour of the United States. The tour continues to Australia, Singapore, Japan and China. In the middle of March 2011 NDPT returns to Europe and spends 14 days in Scotland before the extensive Danish Tour is launched in early April.
The US Tour is funded in part by Vestas (www.vestas.com) and presented in collaboration with the Danish Immigrant Museum (www.danishmuseum.org), which is dedicated to preserving and promoting Danish culture in America.
